The Pretty Huge League is broken down into two major categories: Junior Leagues and Adult Leagues.
Junior Leagues cater to our boys and girls’ youth programs and kids on teams aged 18-and-under. School teams and club-based teams are invited to join. Games are mostly held on weekend mornings and afternoons.
It is highly encouraged that parents and relatives come in to support the kids – we want this to be a fun and family-friendly environment. Your support and encouragement will go a long way in achieving this.
In the Adults division, we have several divisions and tournaments ongoing throughout the year. While age groups are open, divisions will be as evenly balanced as much as possible. Some divisions are specially created based on the member teams (i.e. Bankers’ Division, Restaurants).

Pretty Huge Committee
We strive to provide a high-quality and consistent experience to all participating members. There is a match commissioner at each game who is trained and educated on PHL rules and regulations. The Commissioner is in charge of League operations and will also handle enquiries and feedback about the league.
Part of the responsibilities of the Committee include:
i. Coordinating with officials (referees, table officials, team captains, etc)
ii. Making decisions between team placement in divisions & player eligibility
ii. Voting on season award
As team captains and coaches, feel free to provide suggestions on how we can make the playing experience more fun and enjoyable for our participants.
League Scheduling Process
All games will be held at Pretty Huge.
The Committee will ask team captains for their schedule preference and try to accommodate them as much as possible. However, we must be fair to all teams and it is understood that some games will be played outside a team's preferred date.
There is a possibility that teams will be scheduled to play twice in a week (i.e. one week day and one weekend).
Full season schedule will be set and uploaded to the league website. Once the schedule is set, there will be no rescheduling.
The top 4 teams of every division automatically make it to the playoffs. In divisions with 9 or more teams, it is possible that the top 8 teams will qualify for the quarterfinals.
Final division and playoff format is dependent on the number of teams in the division / competition.
As much as possible, the Pretty Huge League wants to be as open as possible when it comes to player eligibility. That said, the Committee reserves the right to determine which division each team / player should be placed in.
Teams must submit their final lineups one week before the official start date of the tournament. It is possible that late entries will be allowed to join a division if it is deemed in the best interest of the division.
Teams should have 15 players minimum on their roster - the reason for this is to avoid defaults.
Replacements may be allowed on a case-to-case basis for extenuating circumstances (i.e. a player suffers a long term injury, or is forced to relocate, etc). A medical certificate or official supporting documents may be requested from the teams in order to apply for a player replacement.
A player must play at least one regular season game to be eligible for the playoffs.
One feature of the Pretty Huge League is that we allow individuals without teams to join our Free Agent Player Pool. This pool will be used to either fill up teams or to form a team should there be enough individuals who sign up.
That said, each individual player must be committed and show up to the games. Moreover, the players themselves must organize themselves when it comes to playing time, etc.
The current rates to join the Player Pool for the 2022 Season are as follows:
Non-member: P3,500 for one season
Member: P2,500 for one season
If a player is placed on an existing team, the free agent and the existing players of that team must be the ones to coordinate with regards to fees.
League Rules & Regulations
We adhere by FIBA rules for Youth Leagues. The reason for this is that we don’t want to confuse the kids or have them pick up any bad habits.
Adults Leagues utilizes modified rules, namely:
a. Foul out will be 6 fouls
b. Live ball timeouts are allowed (i.e. no need for deadball to call a timeout)
- On any live ball timeout, ball will be inbounded at the nearest designated spot, except for the last two minutes of the game, where the team who called the timeout will have the choice to advance the ball to half court.
- To call a timeout, the players must use the signal for timeout (hand touching same shoulder).
c. Jump balls - for adult leagues we will use jumpballs to determine possession.
Rule changes and suggestions can also be made on a per division basis based on discussions between team captains and the Committee.
- All games will be played over 4 10-minute quarters.
- Each team will have two (2) first half time outs and three (3) second half timeouts. No carry over of time outs from the first half to the second.
- Overtime periods - 5 minutes each, with each team granted one timeout. No carry over from regulation.
We will be using Anta Tournament ball as our official League basketballs for the Men's Divisions.
For the Women's Division, we will be using the Wilson WNBA ball.
Any team that does not have the necessary 5 players to begin the game will have a grace period of 5 minutes. After the grace period is over, if the team has 5 players available, the team will lose one timeout per half.
If after the grace period the team still does not have 5 players, that team will default the game and be assessed a loss. The loss will be reflected in the standings with a score of 20-0.
In addition to the loss, the defaulting team will be assessed a fine of P8,000. Half of the fine (P4,000) will be given to the opposing team while the remainder will go to the League.
Technical and Flagrant foul point system
a. Technical foul – 1 point
b. Flagrant 1 – 1 point
c. Flagrant 2 – 2 points (Ejected + 1 game suspension)
Once a player accumulates 4 points, he will be assessed a one game suspension.
For every point assessed after 4 points, the player will receive an additional one game suspension.
After a player accumulates 7 points, he will be suspended for the rest of the season.
Two technical / Combination of 1 technical + 1 flagrant in one game = ejection + 1 game suspension. This is consistent with FIBA tournaments.
Fines and Penalties
Technical foul – P1,500 each
Flagrant 1 – P2,000 each
Flagrant 2 – P4,000 each
Fighting WILL NOT be tolerated at Pretty Huge. Should any form of fighting occur at Pretty Huge, the following set of rules will be applied. Take note that these are at the discretion of the league as to whether these are enough.
Player initiating the first strike / punch – 4 game suspension, 4 penalty points and a fine of P8,000
Player responding / provoking the incident – 2 game suspension, 2 penalty points and a fine of P4,000
Post game misconduct - 1 Penalty point and a fine of P2,000.
The Committee reserves the right to upgrade penalties upon review of the situation.
Settlement of Fines
Teams will be alerted of fines within 48 hours, either personally or through the team captain.
Any player or team that has an outstanding fine must pay the fine before the team's next game before being allowed to play. Failure to do so will result in the player / team not being allowed to participate in the game.
If a team defaults and does not pay the fine before their next game, they will default that game as well and be suspended from the League.
Coaches / Team Captains / Managers Responsibilities
Team representatives' - which includes the coach, captain, or manager - responsibilities include:
i) Letting all members of the team know the DATE and TIME of each match
ii) Maintain constant communication with the Commissioner and Committee
iii) Input names and / or jersey number on the scoring sheet before the start of every game
iv) Make sure that all team members sign and understand the Pretty Huge Code of Conduct and waivers.
All teams must use the same jersey top design. If a team does not have matching shorts, all players must use BLACK shorts.
For teams using their own jersey set, they must have both a LIGHT (preferably white) and DARK jersey.
Simple and sleek designs are highly encouraged. Designs that use profane language or explicit images are not allowed. Remember - there are also kids participating at Pretty Huge, let us be a good example to them.
No two players can use the same number, but are allowed to change numbers for each game.
Teams that use Pretty Huge jerseys are allowed to purchase additional jerseys. Pretty Huge black shorts are also available for sale - only to PH members or players on teams participating in the league.

Players are allowed to use compression wear of any color.
No jewelry, smart watches, or sharp objects are allowed. If a player is using a knee brace, it must be approved by the Commissioner and the referee crew before the player using it is allowed to play in the game.
Top Performers, Season Awards and Prizes
Based on that game's statistics, the website will automatically calculate for the top performers of each team based on the Efficiency (EFF) Rating.
The Efficiency (EFF) Rating is calculated as follows:
(PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK - Missed FG - Missed FT - TO)
Each division will have the following awards:
i. Season MVP
ii. Best Defender
iii. Mythical 5
Season awards will be based on a combination of accumulated statistical points (70%), voting by team captains (20%) and the Committee (10%).
For the statistical points (SPs) portion of post season awards, total SPs will follow the formula for Efficiency Rating.
In addition, players on winning teams get an additional 10 SPs for each win.
Players will also be assessed penalties for each Technical or Flagrant foul point. The penalty will be a deduction of 15 SPs. Moreover, any player who accumulates two (2) or more Technical or Flagrant foul points will not be eligible for any post season awards.
It is possible that other awards will be given (i.e. Sportsmanship Award, 3PT champ), based on the division.
Pretty Huge Code of Conduct
The purpose of the PHL Code of Conduct is to establish a standard that all concerned parties – players, coaches, referees, organizers alike - will abide by. Remember, the purpose of the PHL is to establish a safe and fun community where everyone can compete and have fun.
Respect the game, respect your opponents, respect the officials.
Play hard within the rules of the game.
There will be no use of profane language or unsportsmanlike behavior.
It's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game.
Be prepared for every practice and training session.
Be on time.
Put the development and safety of the players first.
Be a pro - this is your profession and calling.
Always remember that the players look at you to set the example.
Be supportive of your kids and their teammates. The lessons they learn from being in a team go beyond the basketball court.
Respect the officials and their decisions.
Respect the coaches and let them do their job.
Encourage fair play, teamwork and enjoying sport - we want the student athletes to have a lifelong relationship with sport.
Let your kids focus on the game - cheer them on and be supportive!
Accept the decisions of the referees and treat them with respect.
Respect players from both teams.
Demonstrate appropriate behavior as a spectator - refrain from using profane language and making outwardly gestures.
Leave the facility in a better manner than when you got there.
